Trennick Retirement Village, Truro
Project Overview
At Trennick Retirement Village, Carew Pole Close, Truro, Classic Builders partnered with Nulok to deliver a 510m² roofing system with 40kW of integrated solar tiles. Designed at an optimal 30-degree pitch, the roof is expected to generate around 40,000 kWh of clean electricity each year, significantly reducing operational costs for the care home, where energy demand is high 24/7.
Why Classic Builders Chose Nulok
Classic Builders selected Nulok to align with their vision of being a forward-thinking, eco-conscious contractor. The system was chosen for three key reasons:
- Sustainability – fully recyclable steel system, reducing environmental impact.
- Low maintenance – 30-year warranty, engineered for long-term reliability.
- Kerb appeal – a sleek roof finish that enhances the visual appeal of the village.
This is the first care home in the region to adopt solar tiles instead of traditional solar panels, demonstrating leadership in sustainable construction.
Performance and Impact
- 40,000 kWh per year of expected renewable electricity generation.
- Equivalent to powering around 13 average UK homes annually.
- Estimated savings of 8–10 tonnes of CO₂ every year, or over 250 tonnes across the system’s lifetime.
- On a peak summer day, the system has already produced 230 kWh in a single day, showing strong performance across seasonal conditions.
Certified and Future-Proof
The Nulok system offers the care home operator long-term reassurance:
- BBA Certified for compliance and performance assurance
- A1 Fire Rated components for maximum safety
- Fully recyclable and environmentally responsible materials
- 30-year system warranty for durability and low maintenance
